six months

Maeve is 15 lbs and 5 oz. in the 35.5%. 26in in length and in the 55.75%. And head size went down to now the 89%. She is loving eating solid food so she is starting to build up some tummy and leg rolls that are too good! She is finally back to sleeping through the night and I couldn't be more proud of her! She will maybe wake up once for me to put her binky back in but she has gotten so good at putting herself back to sleep now. She takes 3 naps a day and is on a 2.5 hour schedule. She wakes up around 7:15am, we go on a run then two hours later will take a 1.5 hour-2 hour nap. She usually goes to bed between 7:30-8:15pm.

Maeve at 6 Months:

-She hums and sings when she is breastfeeding or drinking a bottle.

-She has to be playing with something when she is nursing or bottle feeding. Some examples: pulling my hair, scratching the pillow or chair where I am sitting, playing with a burpcloth, playing with my lips/face, playing with my clothes.

-She does one loud, high-pitched scream when she's frustrated or annoyed and wants something to change.

-She likes playing sitting up more than laying down.

-She finally learned how to roll back to belly.

-Her favorite word is Zaxbys.

-Loves playing with Jack or gets excited when there is any young kid present.

-Can only go to sleep if she has a "lovey" to hold and tickle.

-She was scared of the Christmas tree when we first brought it home.

-She cruises around the house in her walker and loves the independence it gives her.

-She loves drinking from a cup but does it weird and likes to put the cup under tongue.

-She started saying the "ma" and "ba" noises.

-She can sit up on her own.

five months

Maeve at 5 Months:

-Absolutely loves food! Her favorites so far are any type of meat, sweet potatoes, applesauce (she can down a whole squeeze pack), oatmeal, and bananas.

-Loves being upside down and will do a backbend after nursing or in the middle of nursing to look around.

-Gets distracted nursing and wants to look at anyone who is talking and will wait until they make eye contact with her. So now I have to go to a quiet room by ourselves in order for her to eat.

-She spooks easily: hates the noise of the blender and the vacuum, cried when grandma gifted her a bumble ball, scared of Hazel the dog, scared of our Christmas tree at first.

-She started bottle feeding at night because she’s not patient enough with breastfeeding and wants food right then.

-Started not sleeping through the night.

-Loves going on morning runs even when it's so cold.

-Started sleeping in a Merlin's Magic Sleep Suit or as we call it-her “Super Suit” and she loves it.

-Enjoyed dressing up for her first Halloween as a Dalmatian.

-Loves going to visit family.

-Likes running errands and is fascinated by all the people and things in stores. She’s growing up at a weird time and doesn’t really know that that many people exist haha

-Loves smiling 24/7 and knows and loves being in front of the camera.

-Loves watching home videos of herself and will smile or talk back.

four months

Maeve is 13lbs 12oz and in the 36% for height and weight but still up at 92% for head size.
She is rolling over belly to back but it's not her favorite thing to do. She loves to laugh and is always laughing for Sam and is still the smiliest girl ever! She started making some squeals and loves babbling when she wakes up. She has a weird obsession with the Tabernacle Choir and loved watching Conference especially for the music. She is really good at holding her head up and has started sitting up with some assistance. We also started having her sleep in her own room around 4.5 months. She started out in her bassinet in her room and then over a week we transitioned her into her crib. She is sleeping 7:30pm-6:30am and taking a nap every 1.5 hours. She is seriously the best sleeper and we got so lucky! We also started putting her in shoes now that's is getting a little colder and it's the cutest thing ever! She still loves hiking with us but we have just had to add a few more layers and she looks pretty cute in a beanie!

very happy watching Conference

meeting up with our San Deigo, now Utah friends!

maeve's first beach trip

We are lucky that Sam works so hard and that he gets to take some breaks every once in awhile too! We were so excited for him to have some time off so we planned a trip to San Diego to show Maeve our favorite place. We decided to fly to save Maeve the 11 hour car ride and she did so well! She definitely didn't love seeing our faces covered by masks but we got her to do a few smiles on the plane and then fall asleep as we were landing.

We went to Tourmaline, our favorite surfing beach, Sam surfed and I rocked Maeve to sleep under cover of a blanket because she hated the wind. But the sound of ocean waves put her right to sleep.

We ate a ton of acai bowls, Panera Mac n Cheese, and Sidecar Donuts, and our favorite fish n chips but we were so sad that our favorite little restaurant was out of business when we drove up. We both had been craving it and it was such a let down to see a new vegetarian restaurant in it's place.
We went to Solana Beach and had Maeve play in the water a little bit. This was her second time dipping her toes in the sand and waves but she still wasn't a big fan. No screaming or crying happened but we could just tell she was stressed and fussy about it.

She loves snuggling her Daddy.

Letting us know the water's too cold.

She may not love the beach but she sure does love the pool!

We spent Saturday at Oceanside with the Buhlers and it was so fun! They were so nice to let us stay at their place for a few days and use their surfboards. But I had so much fun surfing with Sharee. So good to know we still got it! And one day Maeve be a surfer girl too!

We got to visit my old office in La Jolla and it was so fun to see them and show them Maeve.

She fell asleep playing while we were eating dinner in our hotel room. Baby girl knows how to party hard!

Happy girl at the Buhler's house.
It was so fun to see them and we also learned that Maeve likes petting their bunny.

Maeve was a little fussier on the flight home but ended up falling asleep towards the end.

arches national park round 2

We were able to go to Arches National Park with the Plothow's for a little family reunion and it was so fun! Maeve got to see cousins she's never met before and go swimming and hiking so basically it was her type of trip! This was my second time to Arches and we lucked out with super good weather. I was worried we would have 100+ temps but it was actually very pleasant with some cloud coverage so we were able to do some hikes without dying of heat.
Cute fam selfie on the way to Landscape Arch.
And a bigger fam selfie!

Maeve loves hiking and it's so fun taking her to fun, cool places.

We made it to Delicate Arch despite the college kids behind us that were talking bad about bringing kids to places like this... What do they know?  We had so much fun!

Maeve did pretty well for the 3.5 hour drive but after the first 3 hours she was done and basically screamed the last 30 mins so on the way home we learned and took a little snack break.

And then the cutie fell asleep. Success!
