This year the famous Jeppson Family Reunion took place in my part of town. I was lucky because it allowed me to still go to work a few days but not miss out on all the fun. We started the first few days in the LA area. Mom, Sara, Grandma Lola and I tagged along Disneyland with the families with little kids. It was probably the hottest day ever and I was #melting. We could barely stick it out and went back to the hotel for a mid afternoon nap that turned into a 2 hour nap and a stop at CPK for dinner before heading back. I was in awe of the parents trucking around Disney with the little kids all day long. They are the real heroes. Even my 5 year old cousin behaved better than I did, there was no complaining the whole day! #angel
And after spending the hottest, longest day at Disneyland, what do we do? Spend the next day at another amusement park! I was dead but it was worth it. I had to get me some butterbeer (with some added lactose pills of course). Meg's flight was cancelled but I was so happy that she made it in time to join us for Harry Potter Land by flying from SLC at 4:30 in the morning.
Not gonna lie, I closed my eyes for basically all of the 3D Harry Potter ride through the Hogwarts castle. I'm not good with 3D, scary dementors, spiders, and snakes up close and personal in my face. Rode it a second to try and redeem myself but I didn't do much better....
We spent the rest of the reunion in Oceanside/San Diego area. We started the time in SD with the best way possible, a trip to the temple. It was a very special and spiritual day seeing my cousin be sealed to her dad and step mom. All the siblings were there dressed in white and my heart melted. It was pretty much the best thing I have ever witnessed.
The rest of the week we went to the beach, surfed all day, did some paddle boarding in the harbor with some sea lion friends, ate tons, got really bad sunburns, and watched the sunset on the beach.
And one day I "lead" this crew on a hike to Potato Chip Rock in Poway. But I definitely didn't lead the pack because I was struggling up the hill with some gnarly blisters because Converse were definitely not the best shoe option. Lesson learned. But we made it eventually!
Love this family of mine and for a Grandma and Grandpa who started this wonderful tradition many years ago. I didn't take too many pictures toward the end because I was busy getting video clips for a little video recap of the reunion. Take a look if you wanna see the magic.
This looks like a blast! I look forward to my family reunions we have every summer. I'm trying to convince my family to go to HP world in FL in a couple of years. Lyndon says we are going to make them, haha. Now I'm going to watch the video.
