free fridays

In June I start working Fridays from here on out and I'm kind of in denial. Having the day off has been a life saver/helped me keep my sanity so we'll see how this goes... Since our free Fridays together are slowly slipping away, we have to make the most of them so we decided to try out the Ho Chi Minh Trail. It's been on our San Diego To Do List for a while and we finally got around to going.

The trail head starts in the nicest neighborhood in La Jolla, like right inbetween a bajillion dollar homes. After our rattlesnake encounter, we (mostly me) are both suuuuper paranoid on any hike we go on and have to run in any potential *snake areas*.

There were a few sketchy parts along the trail where we had to repel down a rock wall and walk across a 2x4 beam. But we made it safely to the beach below, a nude beach in fact...

The end result of the hike was so beautiful though! It almost felt like we were in Hawaii or something because the water was so blue! And luckily we didn't see any nude sunbathers!

Also not nakie in the above photo fyi...even if it is allowed in that random little corner of La Jolla.

We took the long way back to our car so we could tour the neighborhood. Like dream driveway right here!! Give me all the bougainvillea!! It's like my spirit flower, if that was a thing.

Def coming back with friends next time and probably not in my sandals.

groundhog days

The past couple months have been very busy with the same old routine of work and school but there have been a few memorable moments that have made all the "groundhog days" worth it. Now for the pictures-- bc pics or it didn't happen.

We've gone to the beach a few times and watched the sunset on Sundays.

Had some family visit over Easter break and then went home to Modesto for a baby shower!

Met up with friends in Redlands, California for our roommates wedding.

Can't wait for the summer but really we'll just be here #adulting or in the words of Rhi Rhi "work work work work work."

big bear b&b

I figured I should probably get around to posting about our anniversary trip to Big Bear Lake. Let's be real though, everyone is probably so annoyed with me by now. I've already shared a cheesy video & a bajillion snapchats from the trip. So sorry in advance, but here comes an overload of pictures.
*Feel free to stop reading now if you are so over it.*

So a little back story...Samuel and I decided to switch off years planing our anniversary (you can see the weekend I planned last year here) and this year he completely surprised me with a trip to a Bed & Breakfast in Big Bear Lake, CA. The best part though was that no one else had booked a room in the b&b so we had the whole place to ourselves!! All 100+ VCR tapes included. Sam even watched a little Mary-Kate and Ashley with me. #husbandwin

We walked around Boulder Bay Park which was beautiful but also freezing!

Ate dinner at Saucy Mama's Pizzeria.

We took a mile hike to Castle Rock. And I'm serious when I say death by elevation is real. I sound pathetic, but going from sea level to a whopping 7,000 feet is no joke. The view of the lake was pretty though so I guess it made it all worth it.

Rode the Alpine Slide.

We walked around the Village, shopped, saw a movie, admired the blossoms, and got the best Birthday Cake flavored ice cream...which we regretted soon after. #lactoseprobs

And took another walk around the lake at sunset.

I can't believe it's been two years with the best husband around! Happy Two Years to my love!
