last bit of san diego

Once we found out we were moving away from San Diego it was go time! We needed to get in every last bit of fun with our friends before we left! Not that 2.5 hours is super far away but I seriously saw these people every day and I don't know what I'm going to do without them! We've been through law school together, struggles and successes, and they just get me!

BEACH BONFIRE
We had a beach fire which is super nostalgic because the first time we hung out with Cortney and Aaron we bought our portable fire pit. That first night I knew we were going to be best friends after all the disasters that happened and they still liked us. Our car got stuck on one of the parking curbs and all 4 of us had to literally lift the car up, we had to go to like 3 Walmart's to find the fire pit, and I don't think we even ended up doing a fire because it was too late after everything went wrong and we just went to In-N-Out instead.

ROSE DONUTS
We went to Rosie's a last time for the best donuts and donut holes you'll ever eat!
A very frequently visited spot a couple blocks from our house.

 BFF SLEEPOVER
Kinzie and Kevin invited us over to their condo for a conference sleepover. We even got some cuddles from Mia, which Sam was not a fan of...

RIO & GYM
My friends are great and came to help me pack up and clean my old place. And every Monday, they took me to Cafe Rio for the military 50% off discount and then to the gym. It was my first time ever at a real gym and Coach Kevin taught us how to dead lift (I'm can only lift the bar though, I'm not strong enough to add extra weight lol).

 BEACH DAY
Sam and I went surfing as a goodbye to our beloved San Diego and then our friends came for a little beach hang.

 PUMPKIN PATCH
We've been going to this exact spot for pumpkins and Christmas trees for the past 4 years and had to go one last time with our friends. It's just a little parking lot filled with pumpkins plus free apple cider.

DENTIST APPOINTMENTS
I got to be a patient and then see my favorite patients at work before I left.
This boy impresses me at every visit with no cavities! And this was the exact day we found out Sam got the job and we were moving!

I got the works--my teeth whitened and impressions for new retainers.

Lots of thumbs up coming your way lol...
It was so fun seeing Cortney as a patient because we have been talking about this day for years!!

Then said goodbye to my dental team. We've been featured on the news, I'm on the office yelp video, and we were voted best dental office in La Jolla 2017!

SERIOUSLY GOING TO MISS SAN DIEGO SO MUCH!
It's been a great 4 years here and I've loved making great friends, surfing, working, playing and having visitors! So now that just means people will have to come play in LA!

march

March has been an interesting month. It seems like the days at work are sooooo long and brutal and I'm exhausted every day when I get home. But on the other hand, the days are flying by and I can't believe that the month is almost over! Even though the days seem endless, with no end in sight, we've had some fun days here and there.

First, Sam visited me at work one Friday to get his teethies cleaned and we had tons of fun like always.

Then because we both usually finish work early on Fridays we stopped by the beach for a little day date together! And it was actually warm! We've been having some cold, windy days lately which is making me so ready for summer waves!

Second, Sam had his very last spring break! But because he's the business school has a different spring break he still had classes + his weekend classes. Major bummer!! But luckily we got to spend Wednesday afternoon together. We went to Lemonade for lunch then visited the Children's Pool in La Jolla to see the baby seals during pupping season. It's hard to find things we've never done in San Diego but this was a first! Then we went to the temple.

Third, we got to see the Tippetts and go to dinner with them!

Fourth, Dad came to visit for less than 24 hours but because Sam had classes over the weekend I was happy to have the company. We really wanted to go to the Carlsbad Flower Fields but they weren't fully in bloom yet and it was raining a little bit so we decided to go to the Cherry Blossom Festival at the Japanese Friendship Garden in Balboa Park. Then we went to the Botanical Garden and had a mexican food in Old Town for lunch.

Fifth, it was Sam's 29th birthday! We both had work and after school was over at 5:30, Sam had to go back to work and was there until 8:30. But we were able to go to the Cheesecake Factory for a late dinner date. But then poor baby boy got sick and was up all night long. So not the best birthday but there's always next year right? We didn't get a picture on his actual birthday so here's a cute baby one...

day to day

I've been really bad about updating my blog recently with just the day-to-day happenings. One of the reasons is due to work. Yes I have a job. Yes I love it. Yes it's a little crazy sometimes. We are starting an office remodel in 2 weeks and we have an employee on disability leave so I've been pitching in and am now working 4 days a week.

Sam came to visit me at work for the first time which was really fun! Well, I sort of forced him to come so I don't know how much fun he had...I had a cancellation one day so I called and woke him up and told him to come get his teeth cleaned. He hasn't been the dentist for 2 years (back when I was still in school) but still had zero cavities!! The dentist was super impressed.  Sam's so sweet for saving the day so I treated him to lunch afterward in downtown La Jolla. You can tell from the pictures how tired Sam looks in the first one compared to the other two hahah.

The below pictures are from back in September when we volunteered with Team Smile and The San Diego Chargers to do a free day of dental work. Tons of kids came for a school field trip and it was exhausting but so worth it.

And here's a picture of me at an office I temp at regularly cleaning the dentist's teeth. Talk about nerve racking!!

 ....

The other reason for the blog being on the back-burner is because Sam is so busy with school. Most of his time is spent at school or studying in the library. But every Friday night we watch The Bachelor with our friends and every Saturday we try to get out of the house and do something fun.

One Saturday we went long boarding around the bay.

We bought some cheap tennis rackets at Target and try to play doubles with our friends once a week.

We went to the temple one Saturday night per request of Grandma Lola as her birthday present.

And we watched the sunset at Sunset Cliffs one Sunday night before the busy work/school week started again.

Even though it's nothing crazy, I love our regular day-to-day happenings.
